Transformer Maintenance and Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) Services

The scope of work covers comprehensive preventive, routine, and corrective maintenance of power transformers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation throughout the AMC period. The services shall be carried out in accordance with applicable utility standards, OEM guidelines, and statutory safety regulations.

Services

  • Visual inspection of transformer body, conservator, radiator, bushings, and accessories.
  • Checking oil levels in conservator, OLTC (if applicable), and bushings.
  • Inspection for oil leakage, corrosion, abnormal noise, or vibration.
  • Cleaning of transformer body, bushings, radiators, and marshalling box.
  • Insulation Resistance (IR) and Polarization Index (PI) measurement.
  • Transformer turns ratio (TTR) test.
  • Winding resistance measurement.
  • Magnetic balance test.
  • Capacitance and tan delta testing of windings and bushings (where applicable).
  • Thermographic scanning to identify hot spots.
  • Sampling of transformer oil as per IS/IEC standards.
  • Testing of BDV, moisture content, acidity, and dielectric parameters.
  • Oil filtration / dehydration to improve dielectric strength, if required.
  • Inspection and servicing of OLTC mechanism.
  • Checking contact wear, motor drive unit, and control circuits.
  • Replacement of OLTC oil and cleaning of diverter switch.
  • Functional checks of tap position indicators and protection interlocks.
  • Checking and testing of protection relays, alarms, and trip circuits.
  • Inspection of marshalling box wiring, heaters, and control fuses.
  • Functional testing of Buchholz relay, PRD, oil level indicators, and WTI/OTI.
  • Verification of cooling system operation (fans, pumps, thermostats).
  • Inspection of transformer body and neutral earthing connections.
  • Measurement of earth resistance and rectification of loose connections.
  • Verification of safety signage, fire protection, and spill containment.
  • Attending emergency breakdowns during the AMC period.
  • Fault analysis and rectification of minor defects.
  • Replacement of consumables and minor spares (as defined in AMC terms).
  • Submission of detailed maintenance and test reports after each visit.
  • Maintenance logbook updates and compliance records.
  • Recommendations for major repairs or replacements, if required.
  • Deployment of trained and experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Use of approved tools, testing equipment, and PPEs.
  • Compliance with all applicable safety rules, statutory regulations, and utility practices.
  • Periodic preventive maintenance visits as per AMC agreement.
  • On-call support for emergency maintenance within defined response time.
  • Ensuring maximum transformer availability during the AMC period.
